It depends on the fund. Teucrium’s commodity pool ETFs (e.g., CORN, WEAT, CANE, SOYB, TAGS) issue a Schedule K-1. 1940 Act ETFs (e.g., TILL, XXRP, CXRN, WXET) issue a Form 1099 and do not require K-1 filings.
K-1 forms are available through PwC’s Tax Package Support website. 1099 forms are issued directly by your brokerage and included with your standard year-end tax package or via your broker’s website.
Funds structured as grantor trusts and commodity pools will generate a K-1 with information on Section 1256 gains (60% long-term / 40% short-term). Review your K-1 and consult your tax advisor.
Yes. Each ETF has its own tax treatment depending on its structure. Be aware of differences between K-1 and 1099 ETFs when planning allocations.
WEAT offers similar exposure to wheat futures without the margin requirements, roll management, or complexity of trading futures contracts directly.
Tax treatment will vary based on the investor’s individual circumstances. Teucrium does not provide tax advice. Investors should consult a qualified tax professional regarding any personal tax questions or filing obligations.
